Hi there (aka: Dear Sir/Madam),

What a dynamic, exciting bundle of fun you guys sound!! I have AMAZING pyjamas…as well as a spangly new psychology degree, a heck of a lot of determation, and a random quirkiness to match no other. On an (even more) arrogant note, I have battled through the distractions of two children, student picnics, Facebook and internet chess games for three years, and managed to come out with a predicted 1st. Geek tendancies….? Need I say more?

Unfortunately, I do not play in a rock band…but do indeed have many tatooed and beardy friends who do (photos supplied on request). I was also a performing arts student for 2 years prior to my degree…so I know all about showing off. In fact, I even produced a website for our final performance, for which I recieved no extra mark (spot the sympathy vote now), but did so solely for the challenge, and a then, newly-found love for html. Oh, and the showing off, obviously.

I hope that you’ve smiled at least once reading this, not put me in the ‘stuffy office job’ pile…and that this therefore qualifies me for the love-struck potential you seek so keenly.

Much love. Abi.

You sound like a really good trainee for our rock band and a musical ear could be a definite disadvantage. The two kids, amazing pyjamas and the sparkly new psychology degree seem to fit the bill. I really do think we would need to see the photographs of the bearded tattooed fiends before any serious consideration could be given to this application!!!

Hello All,

Its simple really, i am your ideal candidate. For start i have a Psychology Degree and think Freud is amazing, i’m confident, and i’m curious to the point i find out things i don’t want to. Am i geeky? Well i own my own laptop and computer and elonex, i check my email every 5 minutes and i enjoy the xbox360 and achievements a little too much, oh and my hobby is attempting HTML coding. My rock band consists of Guitar Hero but i DO know a 4 year old who can play the drums a little too well. As for my qualifications, i have a great educational record from GCSE’s, GNVQ, A and AS Levels, a Diploma and a Degree in Psychology. Therefore i am extremely dedicated and hard working. Most of all however i enjoy watching and attempting to understand people and what make them ‘tick’. My computer and internet skills are probably the best any candiate will have. Here is my Facebook page and i salut you in joining me in snooping on other people’s facebook pages: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=513957993&ref=profile#/profile.php?id=513957993&v=info&viewas=513957993.

I hope that i hear from you soon, I would LOVE to have this job and could not express enough how much i am suited to the position and my skills i could bring in the company. I also can’t wait to be doing my job in my PJ’s

Many Thanks,

Claire Webb (yes a girl who like xbox360 and coding)

To genius who came up with this job (my hat off to you!),

A job as a Psychology Rockstar…would this job suit me? I do wonder….

Well I can break the title down first; maybe thats the best thing to do when looking a job title!

Psychology:
“The study of the mind.” I’ve always found the mind interesting so it’s
a good job I’ve done psychology as degree at Manchester University! I love learning about people and the way people work. I always preach about how cool Psychology is on the Ultimate-Guitar.com forum; a lot of people have got bad things to say about Psychology but once you throw some fancy words at them they can’t answer back! In fact I recently got heated in a debate on the forum resulting in me backing the Psychology corner once again. I guess from this you’d think that people who play guitar (I wouldn’t say they were all rockstars!) don’t like Psychology
but that must make me a little bit crazy. Guess I can use my degree to diagnose and treat myself.

Now onto Rockstar …using trusty Wikipedia I found this definition “A rock star or rockstar is a member of a rock and roll band, or only an artist in the genre (the term usually implies celebrity status, or ‘stardom’.” I wish I could declare myself to be a rockstar but at 21
years of age…I might be concidered an aging rock star now! I was in a band for a good few years playing bass (and laying down terrible
backing vocals) but due to geographical issues I had to quit and we
soonafter disbanded. I havn’t lost touch with the metal though! I still
play my bass and guitar (also play ukulele and harmonica but they
aren’t that rock and roll) but my band is now the lonely echo of a
backing track. But I think as long as you have the spirit of rock you
can rock to yourself!

You can check out my forum profile and
Facebook profile (but you’ll need to add me as a friend!!!). I do
apologise for all of the embarrasing things on them…I don’t police
the pictures and messages!

I would love to do this job…as you can probably tell. I can play
Command and Conquer and my DS ‘between shifts.’ I rarely leave my
computer desk anyway so making a bit of cash from it wouldn’t hurt!

Anyway hope you like me

Tracey Henderson May 21, 2009 at 10:23 pm

Hi,

I have just finished my psychology degree and I graduate on June 25th with a predicted 2:1 BAhons. I am the ultimate psychology geek and love all things psychology.

In terms of other geek tendencies I have a few, and although not a computer geek as such I am a total facebook and bebo addict (see http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?id=557055366&ref=profile and http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=389836438)

I also spend a lot of time (and money) online shopping so I do know my way around the net!!

I believe I am well suited to this position if for no other reason than I love love love psychology and studying and identifying what makes people tick. I am keen to continue to learn and expand upon the knowledge about psychology that I have gained so far (the thought of doing so in my PJ’s is just TOO exciting!).

No I am not a rock star, but with some of you’re guidance and my tenacity and ambition I’m sure i could be the psychology equivelent.

thanks,
Tracey Henderson

Julie Gibbons May 28, 2009 at 2:20 pm

Thanks to everyone that applied. We’re in a probation period with some great candidates already, so won’t consider any more applications for this round – but do let us know if you’re interested because we’re expanding!

Lenore June 21, 2009 at 8:24 pm

Dear Julie,
I understand you have closed applications but you also say to let you know if we’re interested as you are expanding so here goes -

My name is Lenore and I used to present Rockworld TV on Sky channel 378. While I don’t play in a band anymore I have interviewed MachineHead, Tony Iommi (Black sabbath) and Nikki Sixx as well as countless others. I have many tattoos, 11 piercings and an undercut. Helpfully, though, I have a 2.1 degree in psychology and criminology and currently write for two music/alt culture magazines and one goth/metal webzine. I critique music and write my own columns as well as host live events. As for my geeky side I’ve played at LAN parties, love Sci-Fi and read comics (Transmetropolitan is my favourite).
Please check out my links as I would love to get back into psychology, it would be ideal if I could combine it with my love of music!

Thank you for your consideration

Vanessa June 29, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Hi,

In case you do need any more people…

I just got a first in my psychology degree. You can find me on facebook under Vanessa Fay. The picture is of four people’s heads-we’re all doing impressions of squirrels. As for the rock band thing, I’m a singer and play guitar badly. I am a geek definitely. A geek definitely-wouldn’t want it any other way. I don’t own any pyjamas.

I’m serious about finding work and I am a psychology rockstar fo ‘sho.

Martin Gibbons June 29, 2009 at 1:04 pm

Vanessa, Great application. Thank you. We have had a great response and although we have filled our vacancies for now, there is every chance we will be looking for more Psychology Rockstars in the near future. Do keep watching PeopleMaps’ site.

Helen Martin July 22, 2009 at 7:26 pm

Hi there!
i just saw your ad in the job centre (what a depressing place that is) and thought it was fabbo. the closing date was July 30th so I hope that you are still recruiting… or at least holding for the next round :)

I’m supposed to make you fall in love with me now right? OK I’ll have a go!

I have a BSc in Psychology, all shiny and new from the Open University, which just goes to show that I can work at home ;) I am always curious about how people tick (especially my teenager who seems to be on an entirely different planet most of the time). I love to sit at home and play on my laptop, browsing the web, using Facebook and here comes the geeky bit…. playing World of Warcraft XD. I’m not in a rockband, but I do play the bass guitar if that counts. My jimjams are very nice and snazzy so i fit the bill there too :) I dont have a lot of work experience because I provide care for my hubby who is a wheelchair user, which makes it difficult to get a conventional office type job. Thats why I thought this would be perfect, I could be at home AND use my education! YAY!!!!

now for the linky bit…

Facebook

Hope you love me… at least a little anyway :)
