So today I sat down to do some piano practice and whilst flicking through an old music book I came across a quote from Jung I thought I would share.

I love the movies. There are an unhealthy number of foreign language and art house films that pass across my giant TV.

Recently Ruaridh and I have been studying them to help him with his book and this is great fun. The psychoanalysis of a movie and it’s characters is just as interesting as the real thing.

I love that watching movies is part of my job and that Jung himself has practically sanctioned it.

Incidentally this weeks best film for exploring human nature and behaviour is The Way, starring Martin Sheen. Watch the interviews too.

It’s been a hectic week and I still have only managed to get a blether with a handful of the new licensees.

I’m sure I’ve missed a couple so apologies to anyone I’ve missed.

Everyone has been head down, nose buried in the training course and I’m delighted to see that everyone is as fascinated by human nature as I am.

Despite all this activity we are still managing to develop and release new products such as the new report “What kind of interviewer are you.”

And there’s more to come, so watch out for a big announcement in a week or so.

Well to my surprise and delight I had to close the doors on applications to become PeopleMaps Licensed. I filled all available slots and a few more within a few days of opening.

We will open the doors for another intake at some point in the future, so don’t worry if you missed out this time round.

Individuals looking to start their own business or existing businesses are welcome to apply to become licensed. Once licensed you are able to sell PeopleMaps to others. Full training and everything you need to conduct business is provided. This is an excellent way to hit the ground running as everything is provided for you.

A week ago I opened the doors to a workshop where you can become peoplemaps licensed.

Within two days it was sold out and i had only invited a small selection of my list.

So I am now on my way to start the workshop and change some people’s lives – and that’s the most exciting part.

It’s nice to help someone out. It’s one of the reasons I have spent so much time in career development. But to help Lots of people, well that’s even more special.

Well when it’s an assessment. How can you fail at being you? You are the only one qualified to judge how well a personality report reflects your personality.

It is not a test, so you can neither pass or fail it. Yes it is usually referred to as a test but this is more a symptom of an age obsessed with testing.

The assumption being that testing improves performance but is it so. Are we producing better educated children today? Are our schools and colleges delivering better thinkers or better people into the world since the advent of so much testing?

So think of it as self assessment. It’s an opportunity for introspection. It is not something to be improved upon. It is not something you can swat up on, after all you have been in it’s mist for all of your life.

This is the one questionnaire where every answer is correct. No one can correct you. You can only but “score” 100%.

Psychometrics testing helps remove some of the guess work and gut feel out of recruitment. This is one of the reasons employers use it.

Was working with a client this week who has been bullied at work for six years. The stress she has been enduring is killing her. . . Literally.

Her personality demands an environment where the feelings of all those that work there are taken into consideration, preferably ahead of all other considerations.

Not everyone needs this, certainly not to this degree. Unfortunately she is working for a boss that neither understands this or cares.

If the boss had had everyone complete a personality test and read their reports, they would realise that they are creating a lot pain unnecessarily. They are being totally counter productive.

Trouble is we have businesses full of bosses that are clueless about the part personality plays. They treat people like they were photocopiers.

Shame really because a little insight would have everyone winning.

Even free personality tests could remove a lot of unnecessary stress.
